·  Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not?

The Loving kindness exercise was a lot better than the other two exercises. I found it beneficial for me because the speaker was a female, which I like very much and it calms me down to relax. I think I will have to practice this exercise a few more times because it asks you a little more thinking than normal. I would recommend this to other people because you have to work on it and this will allow you to set you up for more intensive relaxation techniques.

· What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?

The concept of the mental work out is practicing and more practicing! If you practice enough it will be automatic in response and it will be easier to start and complete. I would implement my mental workouts for my health by taking time out a few times a week and practice from 10 to 15 min per day and then gradually increase the days and time of each session until I get real good at it, I would also not have a notion it would be a short time to achieve this because like anything your good at it takes a long time to perfect the technique.

Hi Everyone,

For this week’s exercise, I found the following…

I would rate my physical well-being (A) as a 7, my spiritual well-being (B) as a 5 and my psychological well-being (C) as a 7.

My physical well-being is rated at 7 because I am taking care of myself by eating right, working out and listening to my body. It isn’t higher because I still need to lose some weight to attain my goal.

My spiritual well-being is rated at 5 because I am working on finding my spirituality. It has been on the back burner for some time. I only recently realized how important it was to incorporate it into all aspects of my life.

My psychological well-being is rated at 7 because I am still working on my self-image from the outside in. Attaining my physical goal will help to balance out my psychological well-being.

My physical goal is to focus more on cardio training to attain my optimal fitness level. This means hitting the gym on the cardio circuit more often and adding in time on the track

My spiritual goal is to identify my spiritual side and develop it further. This means setting aside some quiet time to reflect.

My psychological goal is to forgive and move forward. To identify the issues that still affect my life and move past them.

As far as the relaxation exercise goes, I still found it difficult to really engage because of the male voice. But this exercise was more beneficial than the last one. It did allow me to relax a little.

The relaxation exercise from unit 2 was less than effective for me. Personally, I prefer the voice of a female when practicing relaxation or meditation exercises.

I also felt that the constant reference to blood was a little distracting rather than relaxing.
I did however enjoy the background music, as it was soft and subtle, so much that you almost forget that it was even playing during the exercise.

I guess that right off the bat, I found it difficult to submerge myself because of the male voice. I found that I focused more on the dislike of his voice than the commands in the exercise.
Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my blog. The name I would have chosen for my blog was not available, so I settled for "For the Health of It". I am a true believer that a fit life is a long life. I try to incorporate physical activity into my every day life, with the understanding that just being active keeps the heart strong.

Yoga helps to keep my mind together, and improves my mind and body connection.

I hope this class will teach me how to control my own thoughts, move them in a positive direction as much as possible and help me to understand that the internal greatly affects the external.
